Hookah Stories- The Beach

Let us assess the question: What is a hookah story? Well the answer is simple. A hookah story is any story involving shisha or a hooka being smoked, talked about, carried or anything that one would do with or about a hookah or smoking shisha. We just love shisha and hookas so much that we cant get away from telling our little funny hookah stories. So far we have had stories about smoking shisha on mountaintops, smoking hookahs in great big trees, but one place that we have not told the story of is smoking shisha out of a hookah on a beach or as we live to call it, the beach. So one spring when I was in high school, I took a trip to the Dominican Republic with a friend whose parents were very wealthy. We had one mission while we were there, and that mission was: go find a hookah and shisha and smoke it on the beach. We baisically spent the whole week looking for a hookah but we found shisha almost right away. We looked all week for one special hookah and on our second to last day we found one! So we packed up our bowl in our hotel room and filled it with water and hiked down to the beach where we smoked our lovely hookah! Hookah Stories- Why Smoking?

Many people that i encounter ask em why i like to smoke shisha so much and why i love hookahs so much. well the answer is because i love the social atmosphere that it promotes and i love the taste and the conversation that shisha and hookahs inspire. now you may be saying to yourself that i am no better than a junkie or any other kind of addict. well i can tell you that i do smoke hookahs pretty much all day every day and that i probably am addicted to the high that it gives me. however smoking shisha and hookahs is a widely accepted thing across many cultures and countries. in the united states hookah and shisha smoking has gained tremendous popularity in the past decade and i am sure that its popularity will not stop there. all of my friends from college now enjoy smoking shisha and hookas on a regualr basis, and while i was in college although it was not condoned by the school, we all enjoyed the frequent use of hookahs and shisha tobacco. So my ritual for smoking hooka is simple and i think that everyone who partakes in smoking hookahs and shisha should have a ritual of their own so that they can enjoy the experience of smoking their shisha even more than they do now. the key is to ritualize it so that the user can have a time reference when doing the act of smoking shisha. the reason we ritualize things is so we can place an event properly in time and form. I clean my hookah after everytime i use it and it sits on a special hookah rug. I will tell you more about my hooka and shisha rituals next time! until then, Happy Smoking!

Hookah Stories- The Cheshire Cat

Have you ever smoked shisha out of a hookah in a tree? well let me tell you that it is quite exhilarating. One day when i was in collage some frien of mine and i sat down in my college dorm room and watched alice in wonderland, the classic cartoon, and of course smoked hookah with cherry shisha out of my friends hooka from israel. in college i had a friend who imported hookahs from israel to the united states and sold them on my college campus. actually it was he whogot me into smoking hookahs very seriously, so i thank him for that. so let me tell you a little bit about my school. my college was a very well planned out campus wiht great big trees everywhere. there was an adjacent park which had this giant tree that we called the tree of life. the tree looked as if it had four giant trees growing sideways our of its massive trunk in all different directions and then of course they headed for the sky where they branched off again. so we were inspired by the hookah smoking cat in alice and wonderland and we decided to take our hookah and shisha and all of out gear to the tree and smoke a hookah in the tree. This was such a falublous idea! we loved this tree so much and we loved smoking our hookas! so we went and sat in the tree for hours and smoked a few hookahs. this was a great experience! the funniest and weird thing about this whole game we were playing was that as we were smoking the shisha in the tree acting like the Cheshire cat when out of nowhere this orange striped cat appears and jumps up on the tree with us. we thought that this may be the weirdest thing that ever happened to us and we were willing to understand that we manifested the cat! One day i was in tuscon arizona with some buddies smoking shisha out of a hookah in the desert. We hiked to the top of a mountain to find sunlight. we brough the hookah for fun. smoking at a high altitude can be dangerous. We broke the vase of the hooka on a rock because it was uneven and fell over. this sucked bigtime. we barely got a few pulls off of our shisha hookah before it broke. this was one of my worst hookah experiences becasue we had to collect al of the pieces of broken glass and carry them down the mountain with us. The main problem with this was that the glass had become very sticky from the shisha tobacco and it took us forever to find all of the little glass pieces. The hooka was from israel and it was very important to my friend whose it was.

Hookah Stories- Average Experience

Smoking hookah at luxor lounge in nyc is always a mediocre experience. the shisha is not top quality and the hookas always smoke very harsh. so there is this one waitress at the luxor cafe that is so terrible that it makes me never want to go to this place to smoke hookah agian... putting aside the unbearably average smoking experience. so they serve all sorts of flavors and varieties of narghila at this venue and im pretty sure they use the cheapest shisha possible for their customers. The hookahs are out dated and used beyond belief, most of them do not even work right. so this waitress is just absent. if you want something, like a drink or a new hookah you cant find her and the funny thing is that this lounge is very small! so my story for today is about a time when i ordered a turkey burger to go along with my mint melon shisha. First i ordered my food and then i ordered a drink. the drink came pretty readily but the food seemed like it was taking forever. when the waitress finally came over with our second hooka (!) i asked her about my turkey burger and she acted like she had never taken my order! to which she replied "oh im sorry i did not realize that you still wanted that!" this was mind blowing- it was as if she realized it had taked so long that she thought that i would just not want it anymore! all in all that was an below average experience and i hope to never have one like that again.

Hookah Stories- What will happen next?

I was smoking a hooka with double apple shisha. I was a freshman in college in my non smoking dorm room. Hookahs and all smoking apparatus was banned on campus. I was with four people, some of my best friends. We were sitting in my freshman dorm around a very nice hooka from israel. it had two hoses and we were using japanese coals that my roomate picked up during his time abroad. we were all sitting and listening to pink floyd and enjoying our smoke. Mind you at this point my room was filled with smoke and our fire alarm was covered with a sock or a plastic bag or something. we got a knock on the door and it sounded official. i looked in the peephole and it was two security gaurds looking for trouble. apparantly the hookah had set off a "secret" alarm in the building that only they could see that alerted them that smoking was happening in my room. they barged in and repremanded us for smoking in the building and told us that hookas were not allowed on the campus and that if they ever found a hookah they were allowed to take it. so in an attempt to confiscate my roomates amazing hookah, they knocked it over and the burning hot red coal landed on our brand new carpet that we bought for our linoleum floor. i thought that this was funny because their whole issue is that it was a fire hazard...the irony is that they caused a bigger fire hazard when they knocked to coal off of the hookah and burned my carpet!
