Hookah Stories- My Last Hookah

So i want to tell you about the shisha and hookah that i owned before i owned the one that i do now. and i will also let you know about how it was apprehended from me in such an impersonal and violent manner. So it was my sophomore year in college and i was new to hookah smoking. After smoking friends hookah for a very long time i decided to finally get my own. so i went shopping all over to find a cheap one. at this point good was not in my vocabulary but cheap certainly was. so i went all over the place to find this damn hookah and some shisha with some coals and other accessories that one would need to smoke a hookah. so i finally found one at a cheap little boutique in Toronto, Canada. i wondered if they were going to let me cross the border with it but it turned out that this was not really a concern because they did not search our car on the way out. well that was fun. so when i got back to my school we set up my brand new hooakah and packed it with our finest shisha and lit a coal. well we ran into a slight problem because no one ever told me that you were not supposed to light the coal inside as it produces a insane amount of smoke. so when we lit the coal indoors we set off the fire alarm almost immediately and security cam knocking on our door within minutes. we had to tell them that we smoked a cigarette and that we accidentally blew directly into the smoke detector. However, we could not explain the smell... to be continued

Hookah Stories- Free Hooka

So a buddy of mine came into my house last night raving about something dealing with a hookah and some shisha. I could hear all of this commotion coming form the other room when he walked into my apartment and all heard was something about shisha and a hookah. Everyone seemed pretty excited and I was not sure what was up exactly. So I walked into the other room and asked simply: what is all of the commotion about? The answer that I got was that my friend Garret went out last night and during his adventures he magically obtained a free hookah and shisha tobacco! This blew my mind. Not only because of the absurdity of this happening but because how many hookah related events could happen to one guy??!! I really don’t get it. It seems like everyday I am bombarded with another story about a hookah or a situation that I could write about in my shisha and hookah blog! I guess it was meant to be, I mean do you know anyone else who is so obsessed with hookahs shisha that they just sat around all day and all they ever talked about was shisha and hookahs? Honestly I am so obsessed. I just cant get away form it. And I guess my friends get sucked into it as well! We just sit around and create so much hookah and shisha energy that we are all so open to receive its fruits. Well I guess that’s enough for now so until next time, happy smoking!

Hookah Stories- Where is the Shisha??

Last night I was smoking shisha out of a hookah and I realized that we were almost out of shisha tobacco and we were planning on smoking another hookah. This presented us with a really big problem because we thought that we had enough shisha to smoke another hookah but we did not. So we stated to freak out a little bit because this was going to be our entertainment for the rest of the night. So we started brainstorming about where we could find some decent shisha in the middle of the night in manhattan. We live in Brooklyn and we knew that there was a place in Williamsburg where they sold hookahs and we also knew of a hookah bar in Williamsburg that we could go to. So we traveled to Bedford avenue where the little convenience store is where we could buy some shisha tobacco for out hooka. When we got there we were informed that they were out of shisha and that we were out of luck. Now we had a real problem. Our options were to go into Manhattan to the west village where we knew that we could find some shisha. The only problem was that the west village was about a half hour drive from where we were located. So we decided to go to the hooka bar that was located around the corner to see if we could score some shisha. This story has a happy ending and will be continued tomorrow… until then, Happy Smoking!

Hookah Stories- Frat House Hookah

So after i was dont pledging my frat and i began an epic shisha and hookah smoking journey. We bought about five hookahs for our frat house so that we could have one for every four brothers that lived in our house. we started putting shisha and tobacco on the frat budget. We started buying all types of hookah accessories with house money and it eventually became a great fad in out frat house. Whenever i walked into the house i could smell the sweet smell of shisha and hookah tobacco. my room especially became a hub for smoking people. The hookah smoking would start very early in the day and would continue very late into the night. We had to buy many hookas so that everyone in the house could partake in smoking shisha. after a while hookahs broke and we needed to replace them frequently. people would get drunk and of course knock over smoking hookahs and burn holes in the ground. hookas would break very frequently on drunken saturday nights and eventually we found someone at our school who could import them himself from israel for a very cheap price. We ran through boxes upon boxes of shisha. now mind you that hookahs were illegal on campus and so everytime our fire alarm would go off we had to hide them very well in order that security did not find them. We would have hookas confiscated from our frat house on a regular basis and it was the grace of our great president who kept on bailing us out of trouble with the dean pleading with him that tobacco was the only thing being smoked. all in all having a great hookah smoking experience during collage was something that has gotten me into smoking shisha for my whole life and i thank my fraternity for allowing such hobbies.

Hookah Stories- Why Smoking?

Many people that i encounter ask em why i like to smoke shisha so much and why i love hookahs so much. well the answer is because i love the social atmosphere that it promotes and i love the taste and the conversation that shisha and hookahs inspire. now you may be saying to yourself that i am no better than a junkie or any other kind of addict. well i can tell you that i do smoke hookahs pretty much all day every day and that i probably am addicted to the high that it gives me. however smoking shisha and hookahs is a widely accepted thing across many cultures and countries. in the united states hookah and shisha smoking has gained tremendous popularity in the past decade and i am sure that its popularity will not stop there. all of my friends from college now enjoy smoking shisha and hookas on a regualr basis, and while i was in college although it was not condoned by the school, we all enjoyed the frequent use of hookahs and shisha tobacco. So my ritual for smoking hooka is simple and i think that everyone who partakes in smoking hookahs and shisha should have a ritual of their own so that they can enjoy the experience of smoking their shisha even more than they do now. the key is to ritualize it so that the user can have a time reference when doing the act of smoking shisha. the reason we ritualize things is so we can place an event properly in time and form. I clean my hookah after everytime i use it and it sits on a special hookah rug. I will tell you more about my hooka and shisha rituals next time! until then, Happy Smoking!

Hookah Stories- Smoke Rings

So one of the most fun things to do when smoking shisha out of a hookah is to blow smoke rings. now in order to blow smoke rings out of a hookah with shisha tobacco you must get a really good pull from the hookah. You also must be in a relatively low draft area in order to pull them off with relatively good form. the first time i ever blew a smoke ring, i was in high school during my senior year in my bathroom smoking shisha out of a hookah during lunch break at home in my parents house. my buddy brian and i used to go to my house during our lunch period to smoke hookah and we would sit in front of my mirror in my bathroom and try to blow smoke rings. if you really want to learn how to do it on your own there is no better way to learn than to do it in front of a mirror. you start with a relaxed mouth and you try to exhale the least amount of smoke in a pronounced jolt. After a few tries we got that very easily and moved on to being able to shoot them where we wanted them and vary the size somewhat. once we figured out how to do the small fast bullet smoke rings we wanted to learn how to make the large slow smoke rings so that we could eventually perform the small fast smoke ring through the large slow smoke ring. now this is a very difficult challange if you have ever tried but eventually you just understand the physics of it and train yourself how to do it. it was not until many hookas and tons od shisha smoking later that i was finally able to perfect my art of smoke rings. pretty soon we will be posting some hookah videos of shisha smoke rings and we welcome all of you to link us to some smoke ring videos of your own!
